Emacs-21.2.1 that comes with Redhat 8.0 supports input of Devanagari script
via Mule, though I have so far been unable to get it to work. Therefore, in
principle, it should not be too difficult to have Oriya also supported. I
think that emacs-21.3 is supposed to include Unicode support. There is also a
project to support Indian languages under emacs [37] that
will eventually be included in emacs-21.4.
The vim editor, which adds various enhancements to the classic vi
editor, is able to use Unicode when started from a terminal emulator where
Unicode has been enabled.
